Nexova’s CITEF cyber-range technology has been chosen to support the development of a central component of the €60 million European Union (EU) European Defence Fund (EDF) CITADEL Range project. CITADEL Range will enhance the cybersecurity training and coordination of EU Member States, with a specific focus on defence and classified operations.
This month marks the start of the largest publicly funded cyber-range project ever undertaken in Europe: the €60 million Cyber Infrastructure for Training in Advanced Defence Exercises and Learning (CITADEL) Range project. Primarily funded by the EU’s EDF – but strongly supported by many EU Ministries of Defence – the 42-month research and development project will enhance European cyber-range defence technologies to support cybersecurity forces in training, collaboration and threat response.
Nexova’s digital twin platform CITEF will be used within one of the six core areas of CITADEL Range, which focuses on developing a shared architecture to enable pooling and sharing of resources across EU Member States. Under a technology sharing agreement, CITEF will be used to test and validate technologies developed by sister company Starion Nederland, a space engineering company that is leading this task, and its 12 partner companies.
CITADEL Range, and in particular the pooling and sharing component, follows on from the successful ACTING project, which also leverages Nexova’s CITEF technology.
Marc Taymans, Managing Director of Nexova, said: “Nexova is proud that its proprietary cyber-range technology is playing a central role in this very significant European defence project. As cyber threats intensify, armed forces can no longer afford to act reactively. They require advanced capabilities like cyber-ranges to maximise resilience through testing and realistic training to prepare for the challenges ahead.”
