We are looking for a UX/UI Oriented Frontend Developer. You will work closely with developers, product owners, users, and domain experts to design, prototype, implement, and continuously improve application interfaces. You will join our development team and collaborate closely with the operations team at the Space Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence, part of the European Space Agency in Redu, Belgium.
Tasks and Activities
The scope of work will include:
- Designing and implementing clear, usable, and maintainable frontend views and components.
- Translating complex workflows, user needs, requirements and domain concepts into structured application interfaces.
- Working with Angular and/or React application using TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and modern frontend practices.
- Creating wireframes, mockups, or prototypes to explore and validate interface concepts.
- Collaborating with developers, product owners, users and domain experts to refine and improve usability.
- Working closely with backend and system developers to ensure alignment of frontend and available API, data structures and technical constraints.
Skills and Experience
The following skills and experience are mandatory:
- 4-5 years of relevant experience in frontend development, UI implementation, UX/UI development, or similar.
- Practical experience with Angular and/or React.
- Good knowledge of TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and browser fundamentals.
- Understanding of component-based frontend development and how to structure maintainable views.
- Strong sense of UI/UX, including layout, interaction design, visual hierarchy, content hierarchy, and usability.
- Knowledge of information architecture, navigation, user flows, and task-oriented interface design.
- Eligibility for EU security clearance.
- Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused mindset.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:
- Experience with designing and implementing complex, data-rich, or workflow-heavy applications, such as engineering tools, operational dashboards, modelling environments, simulation platforms, or enterprise applications.
- Demonstrated exposure to security, cybersecurity, simulation, space systems, defence, or critical infrastructure.
- Experience with requirements elicitation, user interviews, usability studies, prototype validation, and planning or facilitating user feedback workshop.
- Background in design systems, reusable UI components, or shared interface guidelines.
